So I was cleaning out the aquarium today, just a bit of vacuuming and scooping, and I notices Sparky lurking at the bottom rather near where I was cleaning, which is odd for him. I thought he had his legs out behind him as if he was basking, but it wasn't his legs! Eek! I took Spike outside, and when I got back in he was back to normal, but even when I expected it sooner or later, it was really shocking!

LOL! Well I've put Gomez back in the big tank, so far so good. The other two hardly noticed, as if Gomie was gone only a few minutes. Beaker sniffed at her, B.D. is ignoring her, still following Beaker around (say what you will about B.D., but he is faithful

). No fanning (yet)......

I'm very happy that Gomie is doing okay with the love birds, er turtles. I hope for Beaker's sake he does share a bit of the attention. I wish there was another female or attractive rock to divert Sparky sometimes!

As long as Sparky doesn't get too crazy with his courting, I think you'll be alright (hope springs eternal). I have noticed that sometimes Beaker and Gomez will both follow Big Daddy around the tank....but they were doing that from day one. I call it "follow the leader" and it seems B.D. is always the leader!

You and Spike had to run out of the house?
I was outside holding my RES and I was cleaning off his shell... then he started to fan as well. Not sure if it was a compliment or a complaint, but its not something you expect.

I'm really really happy I wasn't holding him when it happened. I don't think I would have dropped him, but I certainly would have been shocked. Tee hee. Yeah, it's like covering a kid's eyes and running for it in a movie that turned out to be inappropriate? I was actually afraid Spike might bite him. She seemed a little too interested, but not in the way sparky would have liked.

I'm sure glad things have calmed down. At least the fire department and SWAT team weren't called in! Turtles have been known to take a bite during fanning. and considering the appetite of my female, I wonder if it'll happen too.

Yeah! My girl is an eating machine! I was afraid for Sparky's... well not life, but certainly physical and mental well being. She really did look like she was going to chomp him. Ouch!

this is too funny!

Well it wouldn't have been if Spike really did bite Sparky

but the way you described your reaction was priceless!
