Found Turtle help

I found this turtle wedged in my fence in the backyard, it doesnt seem to be scared of me so i'm thinking that it might have been someone's pet. Can someone help me identify it. i would post a picture but dont know how? There is a picture on this site that looks similar to him, which was an eastern box turtle. If someone can tell me how to post a pic I will.

I released it into the forest near my house. I kept reading other postings on this website that said, wild turtles should not be kept captive. This website is informative, I love it.
