I was looking up what a sulcata looks like and found this page with a photo of a rescue. Its has HORRIBLE pyramiding. its sad.

Sulcata's are not tortoises for everyone.Unless you live down south where the weather is warm and lots of humidity, YOU SHOULD NOT PURCHASE one.

I think it said on the photo it was a rescue from long island.

Its just sad how high they were stacked up. I was in shock when i saw that.

That is very sad. Unfortunately this is the life that many many Sulcatas are subjected too because people just don't have the ability or the knowledge to care for one.

I have wanted to get a Sulcata for more than 5 years, but living in New York, I knew that I couldn't provide the proper care needed for it. About 6 months ago, I moved to Kansas which has a much warmer climate than upstate NY, and my husband and I have finally decided to purchase one this summer. I have spent hours teaching my husband all about them, so he knows what exactly to expect. We are building a huge outside enclosure as well as a heated building for the wintertime. I am SOOO excited. We are going to get a hatchling and try and raise it up.

I just wish more people THOUGHT before they bought these large guys!

You should actually visit there site. They have 100s of turts and torts turned in from bad care. http://turtlerescues.com/
