how to down load pictures and get an avitar

can someone please tell me how to download pictures on to here for when i get them? and how do you do the avitar thing ? can not figure out how to do this please help. thanks

you have to upload them. a common site is
www.photobucket.com.
Look at threads under the photo gallery for tips on how to do it
PS: Steve, how about you make a sticky explaining it and put it in the Photo gallery thread? eh? good idea?

one more silly question while i am at it.
in the profile section, you come to the timezone thing what does GMT stand for ?

true enough steve.
And GMT stands for general mountian time. if it's 11:00 GMT, and it's 2 pm local time, you're GMT +3
At least, I think it's general mountian time

close, general mountain time is used in canada & us, but this board uses the international system - greenwich mean time. eastern north america is -4 (daylight savings time) or -5 hours... west coast is -8 or -7 hours. greenwich is 0, and moving east to europe with france being +1 and in asia, hong kong is +8. so if you're in -6 and talking to someone in +6, they are 12 hours ahead on their clocks. something like that.

As steve rather throughly said, GMT is greenwich mean time... Greenwich (England) International Date line is.
