Don't worry, mine used to do that too all the time and sometimes they still do. It's that "quick swimming" they do the minute they are transferred. As long as you know the temperature isn't too extreme and it's clean, they should be fine. Maybe it's just their instinct to move a lot when they've been moved (predator in the wild).

What do you mean by it's a bit warm?? What is the water temperature? I mean a few degrees over the 78 for hatchlings is ok but if it's a lot over that you may want to make sure it's closer to the normal temp before putting him in.

Yeah it is just that quick swimming thing. the water is just a little over 78 so i guess he is just a squirmer.
thanks

Well turtles are known for "freaking" out when their environment changes. As long as the water temp wasn't overly hot then it's probably just normal turtle behavior.

Is he swimming backwards? Sometimes when I handle my turts (and they don't want me too) they will kick backwards until I put them down and then they will swim backwards for a little while.
