Hi all!!

I am very new to the world of turtles. I got two red ear sliders about 2 weeks ago. Their names are Tippy and Tiny. They are so cute.
Tippy has not been eating for almost a week. Is this normal?? :?

Also they do not swim very much and they bask most all the time.

We are moving in less than two weeks so they are in a temporary setup and have been since I got them. Will they be okay until I get them a permanent setup?? :?:

hi there!

it might take a few days for a new turtle to get used their environment. how big are they? if they're babies you need to get the other one to eat asap...

you'll have to search the forums for ideas...

They are babies. They are 1 inch long. Tiny is a little less than an inch. Tippy is the bigger one and he hasn't eaten in almost a week. I have baby turtle pellets that I feed both of them. I also have some "Zoo Med's" Hatchling Aquatic turtle food. micro size. Neither turtle seems to eat those. Tiny likes to take bites out of the bigger pellets. I also have "Zoo Meds" Turtle Treat. I don't give them this very often.
I will read the feeding suggestions for tips. Should I seperate them when feeding?? Would that maybe help?? :?:

hi and welcome
Ive read both your post,so here goes
1st it will help us all if you can give some information such as the size of the turts
2nd theres alot of information that may help you right here on the forum about how to intice a turtle to begin eating such as offering very smelly tuna, can tuna in spring water rinsed should get the shiest eater moving
3rd try reading the "sticky" posted here a week is a long time for a baby to go hungry
the stickys will also give you information on things such as water temp. basking area tempature, illness, calcuim needs, what to feed and what not to feed as well as how much to feed, filteration, how much water they need 10 gallons per inch of turtle, how to measure and sex turtles etc. I know you will love this and it will prepare you to set up the correct housing once you get moved.

as far as how to move them it is only my opion but I think that the plastic container will be much safer way to transport them in the car, guessing atleast a 12-14 hr. trip ? keep them out of the window /air conditioning draft to prevent RI and dont let em get toooo hot in a closed up car knowing turts they will not eat caz of the excitment going on they dont like change. once you are ready to set up house keeping you will be ready to set them up and settle em in. in a short time they will adjust.but plz get some food into the little guy asap good luck on your move and on learning the world of a turtle.
