Hi there,
I thought I would introduce myself before I start venturing the forum.
I am the proud mommy of 8 year old Alex (not a turtle), and Martin and Frankin (my 2 red eared sliders).
They are approximately 7 months old now and I have had them for about 5.5 months.
Both of them were relatively the same size when I got them (Franklin was a tad bigger) but over the past 5.5 months, Franklin has grown so much and left Martin lagging behind.
Franklin, I am guessing, is about 3-3.5 inches long (his undershell), and Martin is only about 2 inches long.
Both seem very healthy, eat lots, and get along together great.

They live, at present, in a 40 gallon tank with the proper basking area and heat lamp.
They are not big on feeders, but will eat some vegetables. They both like their treat of shrimp every so often.

Well, I am looking forward to getting to know you and your turtles and hopefully learning some new information here in the forum.

:D

welcome to the board! do you seperate them during feeding? franklin might be getting more of the food.

Hi Steve!

I did separate them to begin with but soon realized that they don't like to eat outside of their own quarters...

So now I pretty much put some food down wherever Franklin is, and food down wherever Martin is.

At first, Frankliin was a big pig! and would go after all of the food but we have realized that Martin has been eating like a pig that past few months. He is growing and I think he is going to catch up soon. Franklin appears to have slowed down on the growing for now

:)

...i think most don't like eating out of their tank, but you can put martin in a seperate container while you feed franklin.

Thanks we will try that....

We just moved them from a much smaller tank and so I think I will set the other tank up just for an eating habitat of some sort.

Hi Stray,

I will definately be posting up some new pictures in the near future. I tried last night to take some on the digital but the batteries died while I was trying to get a perfect picture (the lighting really stunk in the area of the tank)...............
My rechargable batteries were borrowed by Ryan for the GPS and are now sitting on the bottom of the Pacific Ocean...:(
I will go buy some new AA's today :)

These 2 pics were taken in April while they were in their old set up that was being torn down for the bigger set up. Will post recent pictures as soon as I get the batteries :)
