I just recently got a baby res from a friend to take care of 4 a while. It was a wild res but it ended up on my friends porch, after the hurricane. i looked into my tank and he was nowhere to be found. this is the second day that it has been missing and it hasnt come out of anywhere. i looked everywhere in my house. under the fridge, under the tv stand, and EVERYWHERE else. what kind of places would a res choose to hide in?

If it's a hatchling, would go anywhere it fits. I think dark "caves" are what they would go to hide in, so check any small spacings around the house. Hope you find your turt soon, poor lil thing

Put out some smelly food near his tank, also a pan of shallow water. If he stays where it's dark, he's be inactive. You might also keep a light on at night where the water and food is--he might be attracted to the scent if he's near by, and the light would help attract him to where the food and water is. But keep looking everywhere possible--even in places you don't think he could possibly be. Good luck.

This is the fifth day he/she has been missing. Thanx 4 the advice, i'll try anything at this point. apparently he was able to get out but i seriously thought he couldnt. the water level was about three times his size away from the top. will keep searching. Im looking everywhere ive already looked, just in case it shifts around. Im gonna pull out the entire fridge and dishwasher cuz they are the darkest and most moist part of the house. when/if/i hope i find it i dont think ill ever let it down. my friend can 4get about gettin this turtle. i doubt he'll ever get it away from me.
THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U THANK U THANX

They can go a while without water, so don't give up. Leave some out as was suggested just in case (along with the food and light). Also look in pockets if you have any clothes lying around (really, look everywhere).

I second the look everywhere part. You will be surprised where they can squeeze into. You might also want to have the area quiet so you can listen to sounds, but it sounds like he isn't moving around.

Maybe, block off rooms after you searched them incase he is on the move.... good luck.

That's good news! :) He might not want to eat right away if he's weak, but keep trying.
