I have a 1 year old red eared slider. I left for college and I asked my sister to take care of it. After I came back she told me that the turtle was shedding and she helped it a little.. she picked at his shell with her fingernails. There’s spots of blood here and there. What should I do. I can’t see a vet, and I don’t know where I can see one. Please help.

Usually with small breaches in the shell, a bit of dry docking with some antibiotic ointment is enough. Anything more severe would need an examination from a vet. Maybe check with local rescue/wildlife groups and see what heir protocol is.
