Hi everyone!

I recently bought my a son a red eared slider and we just upgraded the canister filter from the zoo med filter the tank came with. We now have a Penn Plax Cascade 1000 (265 gph).

My question is, does it matter what I set the outflow rate at? When its at it highest it feels like a water facet on high and splashes water around. The intake valve is at the highest setting, but I put the outflow valve at low to middle. Is that okay?

Thank you!

It's probably OK. How big is the tank? Did the filter come with other attachments, a spray bar for example?

It's a 40 gallon tank. I feel the like the spray bar creates more noise than the spout.

If you keep close to the surface, there noise will be minimal. Can you move the nozzle closer to the water or direct it towards the glass? How much water is in the tank?
