i dont know if its true becouse i saw a website a year ago saying they were going to ban but it never happined but this could be real if its with the fish and wildlife.

Some girl on this site said that it's true and that she got told that in a store, I think the ban starts on the 30th. They are going to be illegal to sell but owning one, is fine as long as you dont breed them, so dont worry man..us floridian RES keepers are safe

Sounds like the fish and game finnally got sick of people releasing them into canals in rivers, I think their goal is to stop this once and for all, atleast in FL.

that and i think they realise how easy people can buy them with out the propper care res need,
so they die quiker, but i would want a baby res in the future but yea my brother bought a res from a flea market and it was like 2 inches big and he bought it by himself at only 12 years old and i was 14 and they didint ask for a paret they were just giveing them to who ever had the money. but mosly people who sell res sell them at like 2 inches or 1 1/2 i never seen a 4 inch res for sale in a petstore i guess its about sales everyone wants a baby turtle not a grown turtle.

yeah. However I think breeders are going to make a comeback with another species, probably yellow bellied sliders or maps. Then it's going to be the same thing....all over, again

what a good rescue org site i wish i new of this for i can give a res a 2nd chance at a better live then just buying one off the street.

yea someone told me if i ever get bored with mine just make some turtle soup, but i think he was just messing with me i wouldint be suprised if someone need flush res down the toliet.

my stepdads ex employee had a baby gator in the toilet like in the back part with the lid on trying to hide it but fish and wildlife heard click clank click clank and they found it.

it was a tip someone i guess new about the gator and called and tip it off theres alot of people that do that when my dad was a repair man for a apartment complex he went into an apartment and found a baby gator in a 10 gallon tank it had water but nothing elts no food around no heat lamp no log to rest in it couldint even move so my dad called fish and wildlife and the police and the guy was yelling at my dad and my dads like you cant have a gator liveing like that. and the guy had to pay a huge fine and he was charged

Yea, that's cool if the poor animal is suffering like that. People like that should get busted, no doubt about that! Good for your dad!

I very much doubt they are going to stop selling them. You can always find them at Bigtop Flea market. Though I've noticed that they don't have anymore at the store I bought mine at. But they still have the "for scientific purposes only" tank. So who knows.

To be honest with you I havent seen much RES in pet stores ever since that ban...though I always see them in canals. I have seen more african side necks and map turtles in pet stores if anything.

By the way safdar that ban was only in FL.
