If you have the required filter
Then pleco arent really neccesary
Like you said
Its making the tank worse with its own poop

Also your turtle might eat it one day

i just had to 'let go' of our plecos.... my husband moved out, and he's taking his fish with him! jk. We got 2 plecos for our large fish tank about 3 years ago. They were only 1.5 inch when we got them. Now the larger is 8 inches and the other is only 3 inches!!!
Go figure. It's like my 2 RES!!!

Aww god da..... That's what was sitting at the bottom of the tank? It makes more waste than the turtle! Now I feel like getting rid of it.

This is why you always research an animal before you buy it. :?

You're kidding right? My pleco excrete 3 times as much as the turtle. Now that my pleco has no use, I'm going to name it. Observing only pets get names from me...

Can anybody recommend any type of creature that could or would clean the bottom of the tank? Now that I have no gravel the poo is just crazy. I always take my net (usually once a day) and clean the bottom but sometimes it just isn't good enough :? I bought 2 rosy red minnows and one little guy that was silver and she gulped them down before they could even clean the take at all. Well, she got the reds at least I think the silver one could have lived longer b/c she couldn't see it as well but he died on top of the basking area. He must have floated up there.....

There aren't any animals that you can add to the tank that won't be eaten. How strong is your filter and how large is your tank? The only way to ensure a clean tank is a good filter, and a large enough tank. IF you have a 4 inch turtle in a 10 gallon tank no filter on earth will keep the tank clean, turtles need a lot of water.

You can also use a turkey baster to pull out the poo. Fish just make more poo, btw.

I have black mystery snails in my tank with miss monday and she just ignores them..granted one is bigger than she is but they are keeping things nice and clean and I like it when they are cleaning the side of the tank and you can watch their creepy little mouth open and close oh and they eat the turtle sticks sometimes Monday does stand on them ...that makes me laugh!!! :)

You have to watch out for snails in a turt tank sometimes though because the tank is so big and they are so small that they can't get to their food.
