I saw waste remover in Petco, I don't know how it works, and any negative effects on turtle?.... normally i just use a battery powered water vacuum cleaner to take out the waste, and leave the rest to the filter. But next month we are going to be abroad for a week, i can get my mom to come by and throw in food, but she can't do cleaning.... if that remover works then it's perfect for us......

i got something called turtle clean. It says that it removes waste. On my tank, i dont think that it really does anything. And it also costs a LOT of money. The only thing that i would suggest is that you have someone like a friend of your family come over and clean out your turtle tank while you are gone. Anyways you are going to have to have someone feed them while you are away. They shouldnt go a week without food.

I could be completely wrong (someone correct me if I am) but if you have a filter, and you are only going to be gone for a week, I don't think it would hurt anything to not be cleaned, as long as your filter does a pretty good job, and as long as someone can feed your turtle while you are gone.

I've used the turtle waste degrader in the past and it works pretty well but it doesn't really remove anything. What it does is break down the solid waste so it can be pulled into the filter more easily. Nowdays I don't use it because I don't need it. I've got three big minnows in the tank and they tidy up after the turtle really well. You might try some of the degrader and see if it helps before you go.
