I've had my res for almost six months, had no problems, been doing really well. but I have a question about algae. Is it okay to have it in the tank? Or how about theres a small amount on the shell? I'm pretty new at this, but haven't had any problems, so I just want to check up and make sure if I need to change a few things. Thanks for all the help. Also can any other animal or fish live with them?

You can clean the algae off your turtles shell by disolving table salt in warm water (as much salt as the water will hold) and brushing the solution onto him with a toothbrush, let him dry off, and then rinse the salt off.

There's some algae on the edges of my RES's corkbark, and I just leave it because I think it looks nice. It won't hurt your turtle, and if it's not overrunning the tank, I'd just let it be. If your turtle has some on his shell, you can just wipe it off with a soft cloth or brush.

As for putting other creatures in the tank, if they have the same habitat requirements you can, but anything you put in the tank will most likely be eaten at some point. If the other fish/creatures are pets, I'd keep them separate.
