Minor Rot

Brought home the new turt! ^_^ She's a bit pudgy, but pretty comfortable with her new (temporary) home already! As soon as she was in the water, she started begging

Anyhow, she has what looks like the start of some minor shell rot on her shell (small white spots).
Is this likely to clear up with a good healthy dose of cuttlebone and uv light, or should I start dry docking and applying some iodine?

Sorry, I don't have any pics yet. Left the camera at my sister's :( Will post pics as soon as we get the cam back.

I would play it by ear myself. If it gets better in a month, great, if it gets worse, I would take her to the vet to check on the type of shell rot, and to ask about recommended treatment. I think dry docking might upset your new girl more than help her immediately. Stress of a new home is enough to deal with for a little bit.

Lol, that's what I was thinking, is that if I were to do anything, I would at least wait a couple days, but she seem well ajusted already! I'll definiately keep a close eye on it.

No one at the pet store seemed to know anything about her, so I don't know what kind of habitat and diet she's coming from.

Just set her up with a good basking area and a good UVB lamp. If she's motivated enough to get up and bask for hours every day so she dries out on her own initiative, and the UVB light is good, she'll probably heal up on her own. If not, then go to the next step.
