it was in a fish store and it wasn't in a very good tank,
so i decided it'd only be fair if i bought it and gave it a proper home.

it's shell looks like it has a little bit of pyramiding.


is there anyway to fix it?

i know nothing of its diet.

No, unfortunately pyramiding is a permanent disfiguration and can't be reversed. If it's a baby with only minor pyramiding, then there's a chance it could grow out of it.

Could you post a picture so we could see how bad it is?

It depends on it's age and how advanced the pyramiding is. I'm going through some shell issues with Gomie now. As she is just now starting to shed for the first time (she's two years old this month) I'm hoping her shell will correct itself over time.

yeah, i have two other RES and i
work hard to make sure their tank has exactly
what they need.

That's not pyramiding at all. That just looks like a bit of shell curve. I f you want to see some pyramiding, look at this post:

and the bumpy ridge where the spine is is normal.

He's way too young to have pyramiding. Most babies have that little bump on top, it smooths out as they grow.

What a cutie! I named my new RES Frankie too!
He's quarantined right now though, right? Usually a 90 day quarantine is recommended with new turtles, just so they don't pass anything to your existing turtles

Good thing, I was a tiny bit concerned about squirt, he has the same spinal ridge. Now I find out thats completely normal. whew.

His shell looks great!

when i got him he wasn't used to deep water,
so he just sunk tot he bottom and couldn't
figure out how to swim up. it was cute.
but now he's a crazy swimmer and basker.
he's a very happy and healthy turtles :]

The shell looks good! If you don't overfeed and provide a balanced diet, that slight upturn of the shell, which is so minimal, should correct itself as the turtle grows.
