trying to escape?

Lately my turtle has been doing some new, weird things. Chu gets up on his dock and literally balances himself on his back legs, then he starts swinging his front legs in the air (i think he's trying to touch the light bulb thats above him.) Then, there's an opening in the tank's cover, that I've put something over so he cant get out, and he stands up again and scratches at the thing covering the opening (like he's trying to escape.) I lifted the thing covering the opening, and Chu just stood up and stuck his head out and was looking around my room. I don't know if he's just curious as to what is outside of his cage, or what? He's never done this before. I pick him up when he does it so he can walk around, and he doesn't seem to do it after I let him out. He's like a dog lol. But anyways, anyone else experience this?

All 3 of my Turtles do that. My female runs every where in the house she is about 11 inches my 2 males 5 in and 6 in do different things the smaller will hide for about 20 minutes than explore the other will go under my couch for an hour than run around the house. All 3 in the beginning would not come out of there shell at all they would stay in for hours. It takes time but after a couple months it's great and fun to see they all have there own pattern.

Just make sure that he cannot have the possibility to escape. They are great escape artists, And I don't think you would want to turn your house upside down looking for your turtle.
