As an odd question, do most of you just use your bare hands to pick up your turtles or do any of you wear latex gloves? I remember seeing a picture of someone with gloves on when picking up their res, I just sanitize before and after and very well mind you.

I just wash my hands with antibacterial soap as soon as I'm done handling the turts.

i pick up my turtle with my bare hands. i dont use my hand with a cut on it. if its sick then they use gloves so you dont get infected off them. i dont wash my hands afterwards but i do use a disinfectant which cleans my hands from salmonella that turtles have.

that disinfectant stuff is good in a pinch but nothing beats soap and water.

Packfan1,
I would recommend that you just use water to wash your hands before touching the tank. If you use any kind of soap, hand sanitizer etc., there is always a residue left on your hands that is not good to come in contact with turtle water.

I just wash my hands, (and arms depending on if I have been moving things deep in the tank) very well with anti-bacterial soap after.

I just use my bare hands to pick my turtles. After playing with them or cleaning their place then i wash my hand with antibacterial liquid soap.

For routine stuff, regular soap and hot water is fine. I do use antibacterial soap after I clean something messy, like the filters.

I don't use gloves to pick up my turtles (I have used gloves while picking up turtles I'm not familiar with or had certain illnesses, though). A 30-second scrubbing with soap under running warm water will do the trick as far as cleaning hands.

I do, however, use non-latex disposable gloves when I'm cleaning filters or other objects that need a good cleaning. And I usually wind up washing my hands as well in the end. :)
