My res has been acting weird lately. He has been biting his claws to were they are short and he has been eating the bubbles that come off the filter. Should I be worried about this or is this normal?

Eating bubbles is nothing to be worried about, sounds like boredom, but eating his claws is. Do they look inflamed or discolored?

No they look normal but his nails are shorter.

Once he makes it through his nails, he may start on his actual limbs, though. Do you give him cuttlebone?

What is your turtle's diet like?

I feed him the reptomin pallets and fruit and vegetables. No cuttlebone though he wont eat it.

What is his setup up like? Can you post pictures of him, his setup, and his arms?

the best way to get a turt to eat cuttlebone is to take off the hard backing and just float it in the water. Sooner or later he will show an interest in it, i'm sure.

I have two RES's one larger and one smaller, and the smaller is ALWAYS attacking the feet of the big one.

Maybe having something to chew on is what he needs.

No. It probaly some aggression starting to show.

What do you do with that aggression? Big One is miserable.

It means you need to seperate them They will both be happier alone.

On the other note, cuttlebone is a calcium supplement that can be found in the bird section of a pet store or grocery store. It's white and needs the hard backing taken off of it.

I just went and bought turtle bone and they got into it right away and seem to be enjoying it!

I'll see later if Little One stops biting Big One and then we'll know its working to keep that at bay!!!

My baby Franklin attacks the bubbles from the filter and when he's done he has bubbles all over him, it's the cutest thing.
