Hello. She is almost a yearling, very active, spoiled and cute! I was wondering if it would be a good idea to get her a brother or sister? We know eventually we will need a bigger tank..but for now we have a 30 gallon tank.

Let me know,

Not a good idea.
First off, if she's a year old, the 30 gallon is probably already getting tight.

Secondly, the second turtle you get will most likely be smaller, if you get a hatchling, or bigger if you get a 4" turtle. Either way, the bigger one will bully, injure, or even kill the smaller one. Also, Buggie will view the new turtle as an intruder into her territory, so there will be tension right off the bat.

Two turtles means eventually a 200 gallon tank / pond, or two complete setups, which is a very big expense.

Finally, turtles are generally solitary creatures. They don't need a friend, and are perfectly happy being an "only child".

Both you and Buggie will be better off with just the two of you :)

Don't worry about getting another one. Turtles like their space & the only friend they need is YOU!

I have ONE adult RES in a 90-gallon tank and she is a handful (Diva, Queen of everything, bossy, pushy, etc.). BUT, she is very sweet to me. She HATES other turtles being in her space & gets really aggressive if she sees another turt.

The worst reason for getting another turtle is to give the one you've got a "friend," "brother," "sister," whatever. Your turtle could care less, and you'd be making more work for yourself, especially if they don't get along and you have to separate them.
