I've heard that I should just discard them but I'm not against keeping any babies that are born. How do I take care of them, how do I make sure that my turtle doesn't retain eggs?? I'm so lost and confused....we haven't had this happen before!

If you don't have a male they're basically like chicken eggs, they are infertile. If you have a male also then here are 2 links to take care of the eggs.

How do I tell if I have a boy? this may be the most stupid question ever posted but can two seperate breeds of turtles mate? They aren't both RES.

well what two turtles do you have? if they are both sliders then hybrids are possible. same with sliders and cooters.
general rule for sliders/cooters is that the males claws are very very long, almost an inch. they also have long and fat tails.

If the eggs were laid in water, more likely than not they are no longer viable.
Here's a link to nest sites and how to build them. It will come in handy the next time your turtle is gravid.
