She is in my neighbor's garden and loving it and dig dig digging away! I want to be sure she's not having problems. How long does she dig for? She's been at it, with frequent breaks, for about 30 minutes or more. How long does she dig before laying? Thanks! :) RUnning out now to check on her. (she's been turtle-sat). :D

I don't know - my guy's a male - but from what I've read on here the time the turtle spends varies quite a bit. I think the first time layers tend to take longer and have more false starts. In fact, she may do nothing more than dig holes today, then you'll have to bring her back again when she gets very restless. Also, I remember an instance where someone didn't think their turtle had laid the eggs because she'd buried them pretty well, but when the owner dug around in the ground, sure enough there they were.

Hang in there. Keep a close watch - she could decide to wander off.

Thanks. I think perhaps it was a false start--it is her first time. We'll just keep trying. I read on another website that some turtles like dcertain times of day. So tomorrow I"ll bring her out very early and start over. This is incredible! Too funny that this what I'm doing all day today. :)

My female likes early morning, about 10 am is when she finally decided to lay, it took about two weeks of her being outside all day every day. A couple of those nights I left her outside too, but I don't recommend this, b/c I knew for a fact that she could not get out of my yard and I also knew that no raccoon would bother her... Good luck and don't get discouraged she will eventually lay...

oh, okay. She seems to like morning too. I called a friend, I may bring her there, as she has a large yard. Thanks for the advice!! I'll keep everyone posted!
