hi, i was just wondering if uvb light and the other needed types will get through a mosquito net. I remembered reading somewhere that the holes in a cover would have to be quite big, like half inch. So, i was wondering if that was right and if a mosquito net was covering the tank, will the light still be effective?
thanks

It might if you get a 10.0 UVB.

It got some UVB. Don't worry, it didn't completely block it out.

If you need to use netting to keep the turtle from escaping, perhaps you can cut a hole in it over the basking area so the turtle can get some unobstructed UVB. Netting or screens do filter out significant amounts of UVB. Even if you can see that the light shines on the basking area, if there is a heavy net or screen between the turtle and the bulb, it's probably blocking so much light as to render the bulb completely ineffective.

What I'g like to do for a cove is make one huge one out of chicken wire and then cust out the middle to where there is a lip but it is still open.
