Just wanted to get everyones opinion on how my turtle looks health wise?


Can you tell by the size how old my turtle is?

And I know its a bit blurry, but can you tell the sex yet?

Looks like a Female.... You can't tell age by size because it depends on what it was fed throughout its life on what size it is say at 5 inches. And since it's a female it will hatch eggs without a male. So be ready for that.

Your turtle really has an interesting pattern of scutes there! I think a few more pictures would help, like one from the side so we can see how bumpy/smooth the shell is, a picture of his/her front claws, and maybe a more focused pic of the undertail region?

It's still a little small to tell the sex yet. How do the front nails look? PcBuilder's right about the age, there's no real correlation between size and age, it all depends on care and feeding.

In the photos he looks gorgeous. And it is a very unusual and interesting pattern of scutes down his spine. The rule of thumb is that turtles may grow around 4" their first year (more or less), then slow down to around 1" a year and then grow slower and slower until they finally stop.

Would you look at that pattern down her back??? WOW! I love it! What a neat turt you have there.

I also like the pattern on its plastron as well.

Like those extra scutes down the spine. The scutes look a bit rounded (as in raised) to me, but that could just be the pic. The marginals are also a bit serated (not lying flat). Got any more of them (pics)?
