so my res speedy will climb up on her floating dock stay there for like ten second then get right off... she literally does this all day long... maybe every other day ill see her on the dock for an extented period of time. is htis normal or should i be worried and what could be the possible reasons

honestly i dont know... i bought her from a pet store this summer she is about 4-5 inches long if that helps

are there any distractions near her tank?

What's the temperature of the basking area? If it's not warm enough (or too hot) he might not be inclined to stay and bask a while.

My RES Sebastian is young and in a place where there is moderate traffic and he will get startled when basking most of the time. I put him in the moderate traffic area though hoping that he will adjust to it eventually and become less skittish and shy.

Cyka is 4-5 inches and used to be shy and scatter when anyone walked into the room while she was basking. Now she sits there like the Queen of Sheba. She acts like she doesn't even see you or care about you.

My turtles became accustomed to movement also after being very skiddish for a time. Now they are much less likely to scatter epecially if I talk or sing to them as I approach as opposed to just going up to them silent.

Clarkstons -- I think you made a smart move putting them in a moderate traffic area. I would expect them to get accustomed to the movement over time.

J-035 -- If you are sure he not basking when you are not around there are several things you can do. Make it attractive to him in regards to temp. They like the temperature difference between the water temp and the basking temp. You can drop you water temp a couple of degrees and make sure the basking temp is 90 to 91 degrees. Along with that, make sure the uvb is where it should be when basking. They usually like to bask just after they eat to matabolize their food. m.

my turtle sebastian has done so much better since putting him in his area! maybe more people should try it!
