Hey,
I'm a newbie and I was just wondering if there was such a thing as a solar powered filter or something.
I have my turtle outside in a rubber maid storage bin. ( I'm working on his new enclosure) We get a lot of sun here so I was thinking of seeing into solar power. So does anybody know if there is such a device?

I doubt you could buy an all-in-one device, but it would certainly be possible to use a solar cell to run a battery/inverter which powered a filter.

Where would I be able to get one of those?
we don't really have any hardware stores here just Home Depot, and Ace.
Ebay maybe?

I would have guessed not for one very simple reason.

You need to run a filter 24 hours a day, and there is no sun at night.

Not certain how well it would work feeding a filter and looks expensive.

Well I hadn't thought of the whole 24 hour thing... I was just trying to think of a way to save some money on the electric bill... Maybe having a plug for it, or a different filter to plug in at night??
What type of filter do you have?

I looked at that website. BTW thanks for the link. One of the filters was solar powered and had a battery that was for night use or when it is rainy etc.. Anyways I guess the solar energy charges the battery, which is really cool.
