I remembered someone talking about this before but I could not find the post.What is up with a turt, If he puff his neck up and down like a frog.

It's normal. I've heard it said that they do this when they are sniffing air. My turtle does it when he's in the water and I'm about to feed him. He sticks his head out of the water as far as it will go and inflates his neck like a ballon. I don't undertand it, but it's normal.

Pickle does the exact same thing, and she has never seemed to be in any distress. I wouldn't worry.

Can one of you guys try to snap a really good pick of your turtle doing this bec frankly it sounds strange as hell but I just have to see it lol

Mine does exactly the same!!!It's weird but I also think it's normal.
Bubbles also do that when he basks.He lies with his neck streched and looks around and do that thing with his neck.He looks like breathing and he doesn't seem to have a problem or difficulty in breathing.He just do that..

I believe they do this to hold more oxygen and keep afloat easier. This way they don't spend to much energy treading water. If you ever tried it, you know what Im talking about. In the military, we are trained to use our lungs and body mass to float, and tread less, hince saving energy. Thats my estimated guess tho.

oh that makes sence. rolo usually only does it in the water, when she's begging and she usually tries to get herself as far out of the water as possible so that could be her using it the help her "bounce" herself out of the water

Here is a frog neck.

Oh they do it all the time. It's part of respiration and floatation. Their lungs are trapped inside that shell, so according to my reading, they move other body parts (legs, neck throat, et cetera) to make room inside the shell to allow their lungs to expand.

And it helps to fill their neck with air to keep their head above water if they are trying to look out.

Often I see a pulse-like bulging in Tank's neck as she breathes on land.

It's just the way turtles work.

I heard the same thing from my biology professor...Well, my roommates biology professor.
