I cleaned my tank and I put my turtles in the bathtub while I did a 3/4 water change. I removed the filters cleaned them out (I just have whispers) and then I obviously added new water and new filters yadda yadda and adds some water conditioner. I put my female turtle in and she's fine I put the male in and he automatically ran up to the out of tank basking area and tried to escape from there. So much that he was moving it and I had to replace it with a screen to keep him from getting out I also have some food containers ontop of the tank. Right now even he's sticking his claws in between the holes in the screen. I don't know whats wrong win him help!

How long has this been going on? Probably he's just anxious because of the changes and he'll calm down soon. Some turtles are more sensitive than others and it sounds like your male may be a sensitive one.

Did you check the water temp? It isn't too cool or too hot is it?

If the water is comfortable for the female then it's probably ok for the male. Let us know if he keeps it up.

its only been going on for tonight. I checked the water temp its at normal and it seems to be okay for the female. He seems to have kind of calmed down now except now hes swimming down to the bottom and then swimming really fast towards the top and just hangs out there...i hope hes okay
