Ok i dont know if she is maybe scraping on her dock, or making some type of sound. I can never actually see what is happening but as im sitting at my computer and she is basking, i hear a sort of croak sound once or twice and once i sneak up on her to try to see what is happening its like she hears me and wont do it no more. But it only happens when she is basking, to me it sounds like a vocal croak type of sound,,but than again it could be that she is scraping the dock in some sort of way, i dont know,
but has anyone ever experienced or witnsessed this type of thing?

it has never happend before but it seems that lately it has been happening a lot,,,2 or 3 days a week or so. idk,,maybe im going nuts...lolll

I've heard croaking a few times. Not sure of the cause but my turtles were outside at the time and have not done it lately.

I've heard my turtle, Typhoon, hiss once. Hissing though is more along the lines of passing hair through the throat and mouth to create a sound than actually using vocal chords, though... That's a really good question. I should look it up.

What I've always wondered too, is, do they have a tongue, and if so, can they like, lift it up or stick it out? Or does it just sit there pathetically the same way an alligator's or crocodile's does?

A turtle has a tongue - you can see it in there. I've not seen my turtle ever stick his out.
