A Swollen Lobe on the Cheek

Hello All,

I just found the bigger of my 2 RESs (properly named Big Big) having developed a swollen cheek on the left. It looks like a big lobe beneath the skin below his 'red ear'. Presently he is very active and has extremely good appetite. I am concerned that the lobe is something serious.

Would appreciate some advice.

Thank you in advance.

Your turtle has what is called an ear abcess and it can be easily removed by a vet. He's just going to make an cut and take the puss out and then you're going to keep the wound clean for a few days until it heals.
