my male RES just started fluttering his arms about a week ago. i've noticed it often and he is alone in his tank so who would he be trying to mate with? i thought maybe he saw his reflection and was getting agressive...i have a background on the tank, like this:

so i dont think he could see his reflection in the tank...thats so wierd. why is he doing it? is it normal? he kind of sits close to the glass and his arms make this wierd noise and tingle, its hard to explain..

thanks.[/img]

I had a male betta fish that flared at his own reflection eventhough I couldn't see it. Your turtle is probably doing the same thing. Their point of view is different because they are underwater. And they probably have better vision.

Probably just fluttering at his reflection. It's not a problem at all. Gives him something to do during the day ;)
