When my res Sam started shedding, the design on His under shell started to blurr and become less defined. I figured this is likely normal, afterall he is shedding. But that's was at least tree weeks ago, and those designs are still blurry. And I'm certain he is done shedding. Now the edges of His yellow belly are getting dark, sort of a greyish hew. And he has what looks like new spots growing, except tht they are brown not green. Is this normal? Or is he sick? He's only 2", and now my second turtle is started to do the same, and she's only 1 3/8". Help?? [/img]

Yep thats normal turtles get darker as they grow usually and there pattern less defined especially on the bottom the spots usually have a pattern somtimes then they just become a blob and more black can appear.


The im not sure what you mean by the gray around the edge of his bottom, that i would need to see a pic. That doesnt sound normal

2" is still a little young to be shedding, and to start to lose color.

I would recommend posting a picture as soon as possible, and you may need to be ready to find a vet. As far as I can imagine, gray in turtles cannot be a good sign.
