We will be going out of town for a few days and I think we are just gonna leave the lights off for the few days. I know I could get a timer but Im just not that comfortable with having the lights on and us not being home.
How will this affect my turtles?

you should get a timer. its not a good idea to go with the lights off. and if lights r on ppl will probably think someone is home anyone.

If you don't want to invest in a timer, just so you know the turtles will be okay without lamp light for a few days. Are they in a room with a window?

I have a timer even though I am home all the time, it just makes life easier. I highly recommend getting one anyways, but that can be after you get back.
I would say that it would be better to leave your turtle without a light for several days than with the light constantly on for several days. It would be equivalent to a very cloudy several days in the wild, as opposed to the sun hanging around for several days, which would be weird.

Bd-07 I am sure they can live without lighting but it is not the best for them. I am sure they could live in a sewer for a few days without light, but it is not good for them. Heat and uvb lighting is how they metabolize their food and dry off which is good for them.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not sure what we are gonna do yet. Prob just go ahead and buy a timer and get it over with. Thanks again.

And a reliable timer can be purchased for less than $10. Just get one of those home ones with the dial, you don't need to go fancy or digital or anything like that. I got mine at Walmart. I did purchase the better brand (I think it's like Brinks or something weird like that, but it was a brand I recognized) for a few extra bucks, but it's been working like a charm for 2 years.
