ok so recently ive seen my turtles flutter each other i know i posted this before and people sayed it was maybe dominance issue but what is weird is they do everything that the site says thell do while mating.

During the courtship, a male will attempt to get the female's attention by swimming backwards in front of her (in a face to face position) with his front legs extended outwards. His long nails would then vibrate or shake (flutter) very quickly in her face. If she is willing, the male will be allowed to mount her and position his tail under hers. He will release his front legs and stabilize in a vertical position. This courtship and mating normally occurs through the months of March and June

everything in that quote but what is weird is they both flutter each other and they would both be what seems like taking turns standing on each other shells under water vertically but what weirds me out is i think there both males but im not sure since there only 2in and the other is 3inches and the site says there not sexually active yet... what do u think there doing are they just like practicing for l8r in life or what lol...ill try to get a vid if i catch them again and post it up so y'all can see what i mean by what they do

its prob dominance if your turtles are not 4-6 years old. That is when they are able to mate and its usually more around 5 years old. Also if there both babys then its def dominance. I caught 2 of my turtles doing it last night but there not even a year old yet.

If someone could elaborate more on this topic Id appreciate it. My baby turtles are doing the same thing. Vlad keeps fluttering Baby and I dont even know the sex of each one of them and they are only about 3in so they are def too young. But Vlad keeps mounting my turtle. They never ever fight though, they are pretty sweet to each other actually.

Does it mean anything when one wants to bask on top of the other and they wiggle them off each other with their shells?

They like to stack, however, the one thats on top gets the most warmth.

Sin-29 & Lady-M The turtles at that size and both being mail it is probably a dominance issue. The sparing may go on for a while and there is nothing to it. However if it esculates into something more you should keep an eye on them.Good Luck!
