I heard people using ping pong balls. I havent used them cause im afraid if they have a lot of chemicals on them, and potentially harming the turtles. But I mean if you clean it well enough, it should be fine. Other than that, I havent heard of any toys people have for their turtles.

Substrate are pretty good at keeping my turtle busy. I use large river rocks and I use algae wafers (replace one feeding) for them to chew on and when they drop it, they try to dig though the river rocks.

i got mine at petsmart the guy said they had only gotten 1 and there manager told them it was a experimental item as in they wanted to see if people would buy it it cost me about $12 but its a good size it reduces the algae in your tank by taking away the nutrients the algae needs to grow and it all so absorbs toxins in the water so i bought it and my turtle plays with it and when my guppies have babies the fry like to hide in it and eat little things off of it its very neat i also just bout 2 more off Ebay not sure if u like Ebay or not but its cheaper only $1.44 with $2.45 shipping to the US so its about $4 or u can buy 5 of them for $7.99 free shipping to the US here is the links to the guy i bought from he has some more up and he ships fast.
5 balls $7.99 free shipping
1 ball for $1.44 $2.45 shipping
