As alot of you all ready know my story I have been reading online alot about a laxative to help my res. My vet said there was none but, from what i'm reading there is.(kind of makes me think he should know) I was just wondering if anyone has had to use this? I'm willing to try anything that may work but, not hurt my res more. From what I read this has been done for res with a blockage from stones(gravel) also read a case where a turtle had eaten metal pieces.

The only thing I can recall helping a turtle poop (to pass some gravel) was a soak in warm water. I'm not sure if you have, but you might want to repost on other forums (turtle times, turtle forum) to see if there are any other perspectives.

I've heard of someone on another forum using mineral oil, but I don't know how much was used or if it was successful.

Is she exhibiting any signs of being constipated, like kicking at her butt with her hind legs like she was in some sort of distress? If so,you could try putting her in some water that's a bit warmer than the tank water---the warmth often helps the insides relax which helps in elimination. Does the vet agree that she's constipated?

yes she does kick at her butt.. I talked to the vet about the oil and he said it needs to be done with caution because if she breaths in it will go into her lungs. He said i could try it 4 times a day for about 4 days. putting less then a drop on her tounge. He does feel its a bock because when he put the feeding tube in it would not go all the way.. Other then her kicking once in awhile she really seems ok but, since I know she is not really pooping I'm the one in distress :)

Karli - I use meneral oil and start by soaking the pellets in the oil Just dip them en and feed it to them. They cannot digest the oil and it slicks up the insiders and helps them pass their poop.
