Signs that female turtle will lay eggs?!

Hello, there!

I haven't been on this forum in quite awhile.

Anyway, I have recently noticed that my female turtle has been trying to climb out of her tank (something she has never done before!!) She's also recently been swimming rapidly at the glass of the tank and it seems as if she wants to climb out?!

I remember reading somewhere on here that these were the signs of when a female turtle is ready to lay eggs...

Information of my female turtle:
She's almost 8 inches
I'm not sure how old she is, but I got her in 2005 and she was I believe around 4 inches.
She is currently living in a 75 gallon tanks. ( I know, I need to upgrade..)

I'm worried about her...because I think by 8 inches, she should have already been starting to lay eggs? But she's never laid any!

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!!

Hey turtlefreak, it does sound like it! There is no set timeframe for when single female RES will lay eggs, many do not lay any.

yeah TF if you look at my similar post that's what mine did accept successfully getting out of the tank. that was about a month ago maybe a little more. and had eggs this week.

If kept alone, a lot of female RES won't lay any. They still can, I don't think anyone's figured out the exact science to it :)
