Swimming problems due to filter

It's difficult for my small turtles to swim around my 10gal tank because I added a cannister filter. When they get close to the tube that pushes in water, they have trouble swimming because of the water flow.
Is this bad? Should I just take the filter out?

I will get a bigger tank asap, but i'm low on money right now.

On some filters you can adjust the water flow. Check to see if yours is one of those.

If not, you can direct the water flow into one of the tank's sides which will reduce the interaction between your turtles and the flow.

A third option would be to lower your output close to the tank's bottom where it won't disturb your turtles' swimming or coming up for air that much.

When my turtle was younger he used to swim into the water outflow on purpose and was having a one-turtle-race against the current.

My turtle gose under his sometimes and he likes to sit there for a bit but then he started to smack it around and make it shoot the water out of the water so i bought a extension and put a large rock under it

What is the gph of you filter? I am a proponant of more is better but you may have made yourself a blender. You can add a discharge tube and a suction tube to reduce it if you have the room.
