Map Turtle With Mucus?

So my baby Mississippi Map Turtle has mucus coming out of it's mouth, at first I thought it was just a remainder of food but I realized it looks like snot. My turtle is very lethargic, he basks all day and only jumps into the water when I accidently frighten him. When it's feeding time he jumps off his rock (because I scared him) and hides underneath the rocks. So I have to use tweezers to give him his food, which works, but I don't think it's normal to have to do that. I also have a RES in there as well and he is actively swimming and basking regularly. Plus my RES doesn't have mucus or anything of the sort. So does anyone know if anything's wrong with my map turtle?

i would take your map to a vet to get checked out
and until (s)he gets checked out i'd separate the two incase it is contagious

I agree.. you should separate them and have him checked out. If there is mucus when he goes into the water after a long basking stint, it might have been dried up.

Yeah taking him to the vet is the best thing you can do. It's most likely RI but I noticed my res had mucus coming out of his mouth when he ate a bunch of rocks he had in his tank. Do you have any gravel or anything that he can eat in his tank?

I have rocks in there but the rocks are impossible for the to swallow, at least at this age. I'll take him to the vet for sure though, I just wanted to check on here first. He does bask for a long time... but I'll check it out with the vet.
