maybe youvve mistaken your turtles sexes and your female might be digging instead of your male.

he might be bored as well so he might be doing it for that reason.

I know hes a male because he has one inch long nails and the female doesn't also his tail is three times as big as hers. I didn't know they could get bored what can i do to entertain them?

I have a bubbler that they like to play with. I also have cuttlebone floating around in the tank. I also have other fish in the tank that they sometimes chase around, and on rare occasions, get to catch and eat them.

Cody digs in the sand when he's bored, climbs his plants and messes around with the wood in his tank. He also likes to redecorate the ornaments in there. Anything you add to your tank could be a source of entertainment for them.

Males and females like to dig around at rocks and other things. It is just something turtles do. A female would not be digging around underwater anyways, if she had eggs. They do that on land only.

He could be scavenging, looking for bits of food.

thanks everybody i guess he probably is just playing or looking for food even though i feed them everyday... He is always begging lol i feel bad sometimes but i don't want them to be obese or anything. He does rearrange the plants all the time and there are fish in there too.. well most of the time because they eat them.

Yeah, turtles don't worry about getting fat like humans do. They also have a slower metabolism, so, it's best to avoid overfeeding them, with anything they normally eat (pellets, veggies, protein, etc.). Imagine the average person trying to lose about, 20 lbs. Well, a turtle would have to work out, I'd say, about five times more than that human to "burn off" a fraction of that weight.

I think it's fascinating how, we must learn about the internal structure of a reptile before keeping it as a pet, whereas a cat or og, you just feed once a day and let it poop in a litter box or outside.
