Hi all, the recently purchased females i have, have orange ears, one has a dark orange, and one has a lighter orange, they are not red, like how hatchlings are.

They are also a bit faded in colour, not so intense etc on their body gree, and yellow lines.

I will get pictures asap.

What could this be due to? I was told they were a 3 years old.

Thanks.

Color fade with time like azazeal said and depending how the red stripes look when you post photos you might have a hybrid slider maybe.

Based on your description, they sound to me like they look like my two turtles. I think they could be Cumberland Sliders.

Look up Cumberland Slider on Wikipedia and maybe do an image search. There used to be more pictures on the Wiki page for Cumberland Sliders, but the pictures seem to have been changed or removed. Two of the pictures that used to be up there looked exactly like my two turtles. The difference seems to be orange (or yellow) stripes instead of red, and slightly diffrently colored skin (more olive brown instead of green) and some differences to the yellow stripes / markings on the skin. I'm pretty sure I have two Cumberland Sliders... but appearantly that's open for debate - there is some debate as to whether Cumberland Sliders are really a sub-species or if they should just be lumped together with Red Eared Slider.

As somebody else said - could be a hybrid of the two also.

Thanks for the info, im not too sure if they are Cumberland Sliders, although here is a picture of a red ear slider that i found, my slider has the same coloured ears as this one.

Notice the darkness.

Those are just normal variations. They won't have the same stripe pattern or color, and they can change over time.

I cant remember but I think RES can live for like what....80 years or something like that? so 10 years old is like a child still but ya those are just normal RES. Iv had some that have really cool colors compared to some of my others.
