Hi,

New to the turtle board here! I am the recent purchaser of 2 red eared sliders. I bought them while on vacation during the New Year's holiday. One of them died yesterday so I'm pretty disappointed about it. I found this site and hopefully, after reading and reading, made the proper corrections to my tank and its habitat to prevent my other turtle (Bill) from dying. I spent about $60 on a water filter and and a submersible water heater.

Now here is my real question:
Does anyone know where I can find baby RES in Charlotte, NC or in the surrounding area. I have looked and can't seem to find them anywhere here.

RES under 4" are not allowed to be sold in many places.

Best option is to order them offline IF you want a baby turtle. Only bad thing is you will pay 30-50 on average cause they only ship next day air.

They are not illegal in Canada.

Where would you order them from online? How are turtles shipped and all that? Sounds crazy and call me clueless but I had no clue that they would actually ship turtles to you.

Just a thought but you might be better off with just one. Sometimes they will get along when younger and then just change overnight and start fighting. If that happens you would have to separate and provide two different enclosures. Also they get so big when they get older that two turtles in one enclosure would mean it would have to be really big. My turtle is 3.75 inches in a 55 gallon and will eventually outgrow that and need an even bigger one. Turtles don't really need friends but if your tank looks bare with just one turtle maybe you can add fish. How big is your tank? If you do get another turtle please quarantine the new guy to make sure he's not sick before you put him in with your current one. Also, keep an eye on the one you have to make sure the one that died didn't get him sick. Good Luck!
