I have 2 RES and am fairly certain they are both female, however I was hoping for some conformation from you guys who are probably more skilled in decoding the exact gender. Sam is 4 inches exact (I measured them both today) and Ella is approx 3.25 Inches. I know Ella is on the smaller side but if you could help out the best you can I would really appreciate it!

Yep, no problem. It's mostly the claws that help, the males really got those wolverine claws goin on there.

I had to BEG fro YEARS to finally convince my parents to allow me to bring a turtle into the house, my step dad was the most reluctant to let this happen. Finally when i broke them down I (too soften the blow) offered to name the RES after him. I went with my step dad's middle name 'Samuel' and although he wont admit it I think he's flattered. Im just lucky the name Sam can also be used for a female as well, and I'm even glader that Ella is a girl.. lol!

I thought the names were a play on "salmonella", or was that someone else?

i named the first Sam, and then once i got the second turtle i needed a good name as well, so thats how Ella came to be. i thought it was a fun turtle joke and was curious as to how many people would get it.
