Turtle escape!

Just a minute or two ago, Brixie got really close to escaping. I'm sitting a few feet from the tank, so I'm not worried. Shee gets almost all of her body hoisted over and I stand up and scare her back into the water. I can't lower the water level to prevent her from escaping because the noise would keep me up at night. Any other suggestions? I don't want this happening while I'm away from home...

I had to put egg crate on top of the tank to keep mine in. I made a slot for the basking lamps and thats what holds it on

Why can't you put a cover on it?

Wouldn't that prevent her from the basking bulb hitting her, and squish her? Might be hard to understand since my camera broke and I can't just show you...I'll dig up a photo as soon as I can.
