foaming at mouth.....help!
Posted: Mon Jun 27, 2011 11:36 amThis morning I noticed one of my RES was foaming at the mouth a little bit. I'm sure this can't be good but does anyone recommend anything? What does this mean? Thanks :/

Posted: Mon Jun 27, 2011 7:24 pmWell for the past few weeks he has been opening and closing his mouth when he is out of the water....like he's trying to get air. I read that could be a respiratory infection. But then last week I got them a basking lamp and he seemed to stop as soon as I got the lamp, but this morning is when I just noticed the foam on his mouth.

Posted: Mon Jun 27, 2011 9:16 pmThat looks like mucus. Please get him to a vet ASAP. Turtles hide their illnesses so he's probably been sick for a while. Take him in before it gets worse. Bump up his water and basking temps each by 5 degrees in the mean time to help his immune system.
