Declawing?

I was wondering if there is a declawing option for a red-eared slider. Being scratched only hurt a little bit right now, but when she gets larger, I'm afraid that it'll be worse.

Nope there is no declawing option. As long as there are things for the res to climb around on like driftwood or something with a hard rough surface to it it should naturally grind the claws down to where it doesnt hurt and they arnt sharp

In reality declawing isn't very humane, even for cats. It's the equivalent of cutting your fingers off at the first knuckle. It also makes a cat defenseless if it accidentally gets out.

For turtles there is no procedure. If there was, it would be the same as cats, the tips of their "fingers" would have to be taken off. It isn't worth the agony in my opinion, just try holding your turtle in a way that it doesnt scratch you.

Support them from behind with both hands so their hind legs stay inside.

when i was doing co-op at the animal hospital, it was a well known fact that de-clawing is very painful

i doubt it's an option for turtles, but even if it is, it's an awfully selfish thing to do to an animal
