The never-ending skute shedder

Odd. My little turtle girl shed her skutes 3 years ago (shortly after she came to live with us), and then it seemed like eternity until she started shedding them again (almost two years). Back in February, she was gravid, became an expert escapee, laid some eggs and shed her skutes. Now, six months later she has gone through a mini-psycho-pseudo-gravid stage and has started shedding her skutes again. She's calmed down, but the skute shedding continues. Needless to say, the skutes are a only a step above paper thin, but I wouldn't expect much in such a short period of time. She seems perfectly spunky and healthy otherwise, so I'm not really concerned. More curious than anything....is there any method to the madness of skute shedding (i.e., once a year, after a growth spurt, etc.) or is it totally random - as I am seeing now?

I think it's a good sign. A smooth shell will shed much sooner than a shell with issues/problems.
