I finally got a turtle bite that drew blood. Little bugger. All these things do is eat and bite me

The new ones are not nearly as calm as my others, although they've finally taken to hand feeding. Just sharing my pain is all.

This sucker is like 7in long. She bit, held on and pulled her head into her shell

Nothin I could do but stand there and wait for her to let go. She held on for at least 10 seconds. Not gonna get that close again..lol

i thinks its so funny when they try to pull you into their shell, like "i'm going to steal your finger, and it's comming inside with me!"

Aww. I'm sure she didn't mean to hurt...your feelings. I'm sure she probably ment to *hurt* you though, haha. Either you were food or you were pissing her off.

I have never given my RES earthworms... not sure if I could stomach it. I should be counting the days since I last got bit, ironically it was the last time I hand fed.

I've only gotten bit once so far. Once was enough though so I'm extra careful now. I was using a net to scoop up some poop in the tank and had my arm in the water up to my bicep and she came along and bit hold of the skin on the inside of my bicep. My RES is 8 inches long so she has quite a bite. It was hard enough to break skin and she wouldn't let go.

yeah, the worms are pretty disgusting but I'm so used to having to cut them up for my boxie that feeding them whole is actually a relief

Tilly loves her earthworms and gets one whole once in a while (I cut them up for the painteds--if two grab on to the same worm they'll drag each other around the tank until one gives up or I intercede). The painteds have a harder bite than my RES (who's much bigger than they are), but my RES hasn't bitten me in quite a while.

Marisa, hahaha. How cute does that earthworm tug of war sound? So adorable.

Sounds cute, but they really take it seriously. When they were smaller, I once tried to break things up by lifting one out of the tank...and the other one followed still clinging to the worm (until it broke).

Amazing how long those necks can get...
