I just bought my turtle today, and I've noticed that it keeps swimming towards the filter. It's one of those internal filters. I'm not sure if the filter is too strong for it or what?

Welcome to the site! The turtle might just find the filter interesting. Can it swim away from it at will?

My turtle does that too, and it is a 600gph FX5, he loves the currents.

Yeah, it can swim away from it. I just wasn't too sure at first! It finally seems at home and rarely goes towards the filter now, unless his food drifts off that way! thank you for the help

When I first got my turtle and an internal filter in a smaller tank, he used to wedge himself between the filter and the glass to go to sleep at night.

They love to find the most low energy spot to sleep. Mine shelters himself behind the heater and on the top of the driftwood, below his small floating dock. All he has to do to breathe air is extend his neck, but he is pretty much hidden from potential predators.
He also loves finding the spots with the most current, I think he hangs out in them to clean himself.

Thank you guys!

I love having him now, it's just so fun watching him swim around!
