I feel like a total hypocrite. I found a nice apartment, in my price range and in a perfect location but there isn't room for all the animals. I've always been a strong believer of being responsible for your pets until they pass but obviously no one can see the future and things tend to happen. I've decided that I'm giving up my 2 new adoptees. I didn't particularly want them in the first place but I had to take them when I saw the deplorable conditions they were kept in. I'm trying to convince myself that they'll be even happier in the resident pond at the pet store where they won't be sold. I'd never give up the other 3 because I'm way too attached but I don't really have the attachment to these 2. I think because I've had the others since they were babies. I guess I thought posting here would make me feel a bit better.

If there is anyone here in the Niagara area that would like to take them, I'm all for it.

dont feel like a hypocrite, theres nothing you can do if....you just arent attached to something as much as something else...so....yeah. well, back to aquarium finding....nothing yet, but i hope it wont be long.

I think what you've decided is perfectly understandable given your circumstances. It isn't like you are dumping them just because you are tired of them or don't want to care. They are much better off now and in the future because you adopted them first. Good luck finding them a home.

Like SonyJ said, "understandable". As much as many of us would love to save all neglected animals in this world, it's just simply not possible. The best we can do is provide the lucky "few" with a better home. There's just so much we can do for them. As long as you know you gave it your best, I think that's all that matters. There shouldn't be any regrets.

I think responsibility is what's important here. Providing or finding them the appropriate home is the most responsible thing a pet owner can do and you've already done so much more for them than the previous owner.

One RES can be a handful... two yearlings and two adults is a lot to bear. You can't control the circumstances of every situation and I think I would've done the same thing.

You've provided the two turtles with a great home and plan to hand them over to good conditions when you move. You've done nothing to feel bad about.

Thanks everyone. I spoke to a lady from Kitchener today. She's got a 150gal tank for them. I'm going to direct her to this site just to be sure. She has other reptiles but is new to turtles. It sounds like they'll be really happy if she takes them

Update...they're being picked up this weekend *sigh* At least I know they'll be happy.

I'm glad you were able to find them a good home. Knowing they will be taken care of will make you feel at ease about giving them up. Good job.
